I just found out that my BookSpeak! Poems About Books (Clarion, 2011) is on the poetry shortlist for the First Annual Nerdies awards. Fun!
There are lots of other categories of children’s books, and you get to vote for more than one book in every category, which makes it at least a little easier.
Vote here–it’s fast–and have fun! And maybe the finalists list will give you some last-minute shopping ideas.
Congrats on your nomination, Laura! How exciting.
Best,
B.J. Lee
Thanks, B.J.! Hope all is well with you–haven’t “seen” you in a long time!
Joyce Sidman’s book is under the non-fiction category for the Cybils, too.
Congratulations on being nominated, Laura!
Thanks, Julie!
Wonderful news! Interesting to see Joyce Sidman under nonfiction, though it makes sense. (Also in nonfiction, FEYNMAN, a graphic novel, and Matt Phelan’s AROUND THE WORLD, also a graphic. Interesting . . . )
I love rhyming nonfiction, and I think SWIRL BY SWIRL is a stellar example. I know a few people who thought it should be in poetry, but I see it as a different (albeit equally wonderful) animal.
Done! Congratulations to you. I just got your book!
Thank you, Linda! I hope you like it!
Absolutely! It is well deserved! Best of luck, Laura!
